As inflation rises and central banks move to tighten monetary policy, global markets have become progressively more skittish. Europe looks increasingly weak while China’s continued use of tough Covid controls is dimming its growth prospects. For now, most economists think the US can duck recession in the near term, but confidence levels in this are declining.
