The New Geopolitical Order: Technology, Globalization and Populism

Over the past three decades, globalization and technological change have reshaped the world economy. These forces are now under threat from an American populist backlash that calls into question the US commitment to free flows of trade and investment, and to the alliance structures in Europe and Asia that have ensured geopolitical stability.

In this new environment, investors face a host of vexing questions: Is the era of "Pax Americana" drawing to a close? Will the Trump administration boost US growth through tax cuts and deregulation, or choke it off with protectionism? Will technology destroy old jobs faster than it can create new ones, exacerbating the populist backlash? What are the consequences of the rise of China and the decline of US influence in Asia, the world's most dynamic economic region?

To gain insight on these questions, please join us for a free-wheeling debate featuring Gavekal partners Louis-Vincent Gave, Anatole Kaletsky, Will Denyer and Arthur Kroeber
