| Dear Sir/Madam, |
| |
| GaveKal is rolling out its new Document Rights Management (DRM) System. To ensure that there are no
interruptions to your research you need to register your computer with DRM. Below are the steps you need to carry out for
registration. |
| |
| 1. First thing to do is ensure that you have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 or higher on your computer. Adobe Acrobat was released in 2001,
so almost everybody should have at least 7.0, but to check please open your Adobe reader, click on "Help" (normally the rightmost
drop down menu at the top of the page) then click on "About Adobe Acrobat..." which will give you the version installed on your
computer. If you find your version of Adobe Acrobat is lower than 7.0 please go to the
Adobe site to download the latest version or
contact your system administrator. |
| |
| 2. The next step is to install the FileOpen plugin. Please click on ONE of the links below, depending on what operating system you
use. If you are not sure what Operating System you have, please right click on the "My Computer" icon (either on the Desktop or in
the Start menu) and click on properties. The screen that appears will tell you what Operating System you use. |
| |
For Windows Systems (Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7): http://gavekal.com/DRM/installOnWin.cfm
For Apple Computers (Mac OS X): http://gavekal.com/DRM/installOnMac.cfm
|
| |
3. Once you have successfully installed the correct plugin for your system, you are ready to register your computer. The computer
you register will be the only machine on which you will be able to open the documents, so please ensure you are using the computer
that you normally access GaveKal Research on. To register the computer please click on the following link (on Internet Explorer in Windows or Firefox in Macintosh):
http://gavekal.com/DRM/reg.cfm?gkid=[your register ID]
Please login to view the registration link.
|
| |
| Please do not share this link with others and please only open this link on the computer you want to register. |
| |
If the GaveKal DRM Registration dialog is prompted, please enter your Email Address (yourname@yourcompany.com) as login and Password (yourpassword) to register:
|
| |
4. Once registration is complete, you will get a window saying "Successful! Your machine (Machine ID) is registered for reading
GaveKal Research." Please click on OK and close the window.
|
| |
5. A welcome message will open in Adobe Acrobat stating: "Welcome to GaveKal - Document Right Management Server!" When you see this,
the registration process is complete.
|
| |
| Once completed, you will be able to open links and attachments as well as access our website. |
| |
Some information on the DRM tool:
1. You need to have permission to install programs to install the rights management FileOpen plugin. If you do not have this
permission, please contact your system administrator for assistance.
2. You can only access the research from one machine.
3. The maximum number of copies you can print is five.
4. While you can still right click on the document and save a copy, only people with registered machines will be able to read the
document.
|
| |
| We hope your registration process was quick and easy. If however, you have had any problems, please either contact your accounts
manager or Support at support@gavekal.com. You can also
reach us by phone on +852 2869 8363. |
